Sunday Sermon - 1 Corinthians Message 37

02/23/2020

1 Corinthians 14:26-40

Opening Prayer:

O mighty King, lover of justice, we confess that though you are enthroned upon the cherubim and that the earth itself shakes at your command, that we in our deepest hearts do not tremble before you as we ought, that we do not hold you high above ourselves, that we do not long for the rigteousness to which you call us; sticky is the sin of selfishness. You have spoken clearly through your word; grant us ears to hear and hearts to obey your words, that we might be like Moses and Aaron and Samuel, those who called upon your name, who you answered, who you forgave. Let your people proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God and worship him in truth and humility, for the Lord our God is the Holy One.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, there is so much, and yet so little to say to you, you who knows all and hears all and sees all things, you who planned us and formed us and rescues us, you who are infinitely merciful and infinitely just. Truly, fuller churches are required to increase the praises to God, for though we might devote evermore of our hearts to you, we could never offer you a gift of praise worthy of your supreme glory and majesty! And so may your churches be full, Lord! May your people obediently bless their neighbors with the truth and glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that they, too, would bend the heart to Christ, and add to the praises of the merciful Savior! Thank you for inviting us into your family, for calling us to the feast, for bringing us home.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen
