OTHER DAYS & TIMES

Sent Out

We believe strongly that the Lord leads each member into opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ to their neighbor on a daily basis.  We gather together a few times each week, but spend the majority of our time out in the world.  Family, co-workers, people on the street, friends, neighbors, etc. are all in need of Christ and an encouraging word.

As a church we are committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those that have not heard the message in obedience to the Lord’s commission of Matthew 28:18-20. The primary way this is accomplished is through the day-to-day relationships our members have with unbelievers in their work, school, neighborhoods and activities. We believe this kind of relational outreach is the most effective form of evangelism. However, we also recognize the need for more structured, intentional evangelism efforts to reach those who have not heard the message of Christ. As a result the church has organized a few ongoing outreach opportunities to the community.

Serving

Christian Education

Our Children's and Youth Ministries offer opportunities for children to discover more about God and the Bible in a fun and exciting environment. Our goal is to reach each child with the Good News that Jesus loves them, gave His life for them and that He can change their lives forever. Lessons are designed to challenge children to think about how Christians are called to live.

Our goals are to connect children to the Lord through salvation, feed them the word, and train them to serve Him. We seek to supplement the family in its efforts to "train up a child in the way he should go." We encourage the children to memorize Scripture and learn how the "whole Bible is useful for instruction."

Outreach

As a church we are committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those that have not heard the message in obedience to the Lord’s commission of Matthew 28:18-20. The primary way this is accomplished is through the day-to-day relationships our members have with unbelievers in their work, school, neighborhoods and activities. We believe this kind of relational outreach is the most effective form of evangelism in the long run. However, we also recognize the need for more structured, intentional evangelism efforts to reach those who have not heard the message of Christ. As a result the church has organized a few ongoing outreach opportunities to the community as a whole.

Prayer

Prayer groups exist to facilitate and encourage corporate and private prayer so that we may grow closer to God, lift up requests, and give God the glory for the results. Our purpose as Christians, to worship and glorify God, is only possible because of our relationship with Christ. Prayer is the expression and practice of that personal relationship, and thus is the foundation for all of our ministry. We are here to provide group and individual prayer opportunities and resources for you, so if there is anything that would help your prayer life that is not listed here, please contact us.

Music

The ability to create and enjoy music is a gift from God (just like the ability to speak or to hear). The exercise of this gift is natural because we are made in the image of God who is the author of creativity. Sometimes one makes music to express emotions too deep for words. Sometimes he/she uses it to enhance the atmosphere of a special occasion (e.g., a wedding ceremony). Other times, a person will create music simply to explore his/her abilities.

During the worship services at Denton Community Church, we use music for two purposes: 1) to express to God our love for Him and 2) to kindle our affections that we might love Him and serve Him with greater devotion. All are welcome to join us; all that is needed is a desire to meet with God.
