Sunday Sermon - 07/21/2019 - 1 Corinthians 4:14-21

Opening Prayer: O Holy God, in our better days we long for the holiness described by the psalmist, and we strive to displace our pride with righteous desires to see you honored in our hearts and homes and workplaces; in our times of arrogance we desire some form of personal gain, prestige or pleasure or the satisfaction of feeling superior to those whose ideas and ideals are offensive to us. Lord, we are hot then cold, fervent then apathetic, compassionate then hateful. Thank you that the blamelessness required to dwell in your tabernacle is the blamelessness of Jesus Christ, that his holiness is credited to all who merely submit to him, that reconciliation with you is not based on our shift

Sunday Sermon - 07/14/2019 - 1 Corinthians 4:6-13

Opening Prayer: O Holy God, joy and peace line your paths of righteousness. Thank you for teaching us sinners to walk in your ways, and for patiently enduring our many errors and sins as we grow in obedience.May you be pleased by the praises offered to you today. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Closing Prayer: O Holy God, the great joys of your church are to repeat aloud the mighty works of Jesus Christ and to revel in the infinite superiority of Christ over his creation. Glorious is the mighty Savior, whose work of salvation towers above humanity’s selfish desires, foolish plans, and sinful pride! Please grant your people courage and humility to join you in the great harvest

Sunday Sermon - 07/07/2019 - 1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Opening Prayer: O Holy God, how awesome are your deeds of mercy, how expansive is your offer of amnesty! Your extension of salvation in Jesus Christ to the nations, to us in our day, is the great deed of mercy toward we who are not the descendants of Israel. Thank you for your mercy that extends beyond the bounds of nation and time and place. May you be pleased by the praises of your grateful church today. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Closing Prayer: O Holy God, so simple and yet so sweet the truth that reconciliation with the righteous Creator is achieved only on the basis of the person of Jesus Christ, not on any feeling or act or promise of ours! Jesus Christ needs no helpers,

Sunday Sermon - 06/30/2019 - 1 Corinthians 3:18-23

Opening Prayer: O Holy God, while it is true that you do not force yourself upon sinners, that you do not compel unwilling obedience from your creatures, it is also true that you lovingly lead your people though countless unseen dangers, such that we primarily perceive your guidance and protection in retrospect, not in the present. Such a fine line between forceful manipulation and compassionate guidance is walked only by the Creator. Thank you for guiding us through countless snares and woes, for lovingly leading us through despondency, apathy, and arrogance. O gracious Guide, please accept the praises of your people today. Closing Prayer: O Holy God, to you we owe our whole existence, our
