Sunday Sermon - 1 Corinthians Message 30

01/05/2020

1 Corinthians 12:4-11

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, the ever-living One, happy are those whose hearts offer you continual praise, whose sole desire is you yourself, for they fulfill the purpose for which they are made, to honor you by glorying in you. So beautiful is the God of gods that the mere sight of him is both the fear and hope of the christian! May we offer you undivided praise from the deepest parts of our hearts, that we might fulfill the purpose for which we were made, and in so doing taste the joy reserved for the worshipers of God.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, how glorious are the words of Christ, “I am gentle and lowly in heart”! What divine beauties lay behind such a peculiar self-revelation? And what deep truths about the Deity lay behind his teachings, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” and “Blessed are the meek”? O Lord, though we only understand but little now, we praise you for your divine humility, your holy selflessness, your all-mighty submission to the will of the Father! May your poverty of spirit and your meekness of heart appear to us as the great and glorious curiosity, the divine reversal in which the Deity bends low in compassion for helpless sinners. Thank you for loving us.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
