Sunday Sermon - 09/29/2019 - 1 Corinthians 8

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, though you know our careless thoughts and self-focused desires, you nevertheless have pity on us, and you hear our prayers. Truly, you are merciful and compassionate. May your church sing your praises with true humility and devotion, and so may you be honored in hearts of your people.

We pray this is in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, simple and yet profound is the truth that you are the ever-steady, unchanging foundation of all creation. Much of our earthly sadness stems from the temporal nature of the people and things we love, and we mourn when we witness the decay and death of the relationships we believed were permanent. You are the Great Constant, for though all other friends come and go, live and die, your are ever-present and ever the same; always compassionate, always just, always patient. Truly, when the earth and the heavens rolled up, and the terror of the unknown grips the World, your ransomed Church will look with eyes full of unshaken peace, trusting in the endless love of Jesus Christ.
