Sunday Sermon - 07/07/2019 - 1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, how awesome are your deeds of mercy, how expansive is your offer of amnesty! Your extension of salvation in Jesus Christ to the nations, to us in our day, is the great deed of mercy toward we who are not the descendants of Israel. Thank you for your mercy that extends beyond the bounds of nation and time and place. May you be pleased by the praises of your grateful church today.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, so simple and yet so sweet the truth that reconciliation with the righteous Creator is achieved only on the basis of the person of Jesus Christ, not on any feeling or act or promise of ours! Jesus Christ needs no helpers, and he needs no one to finish his work! Lord Jesus, let your people take rest knowing that your grip on us is perfectly sufficient to bring us home. And may that peace release a torrent of humble acts and courageous speech, such that our nearest neighbors would see and hear of the goodness and might of Jesus Christ, and repent. And so may you be honored in the repentance and humility of our families, neighbors, and city.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ and for his glory. Amen.
