Sunday Sermon - 04/28/2019 - 1 Corinthians 1:1-9

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, your might and wisdom are displayed in the intricate beauty of creation. Your goodness is displayed in the refreshment of food and drink and sleep. Your fatherly love is displayed in the warmth of friendship, especially in the bonds of long-suffering ministry. Thank you for blessing us with all goodness and kindness and joy.

Please accept the praises of your church today.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, thank you that the safety and survival of your church depends not on us, but on Jesus Christ! Thank you that though winds of temptation howl on the outside, and the winds of complacency threaten on the inside, nevertheless the sure survival of the Ship of Christ rests on the fixed anchor, Christ himself! The might of Christ to bring his people safely home is the great comfort of your church; grant that we would be marked by contentment and thankfulness, that our neighbors and coworkers and families would wonder at the unreasonable peace of your church, seek the source of that peace, and someday soon find all satisfaction and rest in Jesus Christ. And so may you be honored by the adding of souls to your church.
