Sunday Sermon - 03/10/2019 - Deuteronomy 26:1-11

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, as you were a shield to the Lord Jesus, so you are a shield to us, protecting us from countless invisible evils, rescuing us from forces beyond our perception. Thank you for so treating us as your children. Let your Church rejoice in this today, that though we may or may not understand the circumstances of our lives, the God of Israel is our shelter, and he does not fail, and he satisfies every longing heart with the joy of salvation. Thank you for adopting us.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, the surety of our salvation is that Jesus Christ himself ensures that we will arrive home safely. Why then are we so often dismayed and worried and anxious? Let your Church rejoice with whole heart in the freely-offered, invincible salvation of Jesus Christ! Let the joy and peace and contentment of your people honor you as the all-satisifying, perfectly just, and infinitely compassionate Savior. And so may the beauty of your people shine as a beacon to woo lost souls

to safe harbor in the mighty Christ, and may you be honored in their courageous obedience to the Holy Spirit as he calls us to acts of other-worldy compassion, to speak timely words of life-giving truth, and to keep holy silence in accordance with humility and wisdom.

We pray this in the name of Jesus and for his glory. Amen.
