Sunday Sermon - 1 Corinthians Message 34

02/02/2020

1 Corinthians 14:1-5

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, “happy are they who put their trust in you,” for you satisfy our deep longings for righteousness, justice, and beauty by giving us yourself. May your people excel at fostering righteous desires and plans, that you would be honored by the inner life of your church. Please accept our praises today.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, we are rightly humbled by your teaching about the the kingdom of heaven being comparable to a king giving a wedding feast for his son. We are not the first guests to be called, but rather we were those that the king’s servants found out on the roads, a people who have no kinship with the king or his son. And truly, we would not have belonged in that room full of guests had you not provided a wedding garment to fit us to be in the presence of the king. Thank you for calling us to the feast, for dressing us in Christ’s righteousness, for loving us as adopted children. Have mercy, Lord, on those who do not yet submit to Christ; may they again hear your call to repentance, and may they today yield to your kind Spirit.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen
