Sunday Sermon - 1 Corinthians Message 42

05/03/2020

1 Corinthians 15:35-31

Prayer:

Acts 2:42-47

Those who had been baptized devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

O Holy God, we confess that in our callousness we are often immoved by your daily blessings of food and drink, work and rest, solitude and fellowship. Please forgive us for our numbness to your constant generosity.

May your people again foster holy wonder at your open-handedness and welcoming heart, and in turn release selfishness, freely sharing possessions and skill and time. May a longing to see each other face-to-face burn with ever-increasing intensity until our joyful reunion. And may our homes be filled with gladness, generosity, and the praises of Jesus Christ, he who makes a place for us at the table of God.

Amen.
