Sunday Sermon - 1 Corinthians Message 36

02/16/2020

1 Corinthians 14:20-25

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, you have not abandoned us, leaving us to use mere reason to figure out our purpose and function in life, but you have given us your words, your commands and decrees. Your recorded words are a sure guide and help, giving us counsel, comfort and direction, explaining our brokenness and revealing to us your justice and compassion. Thank you for your words! Truly,“happy are they who walk in the law of the Lord,” who “seek him with all their hearts,” for their hearts are sensitized to your mercy, your beauty, your infinitude. May your people renew their desire for your words, that you may be honored in humility and obedience and contentment.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, how sweet is your mercy, your heart of compassion that made a way for sinners such as us to come home to you, the perfectly just Father! As you had mercy on us, please have mercy on our nearest unbelieving neighbors, those in our homes and communities and workplaces, that they too would add to their voices to the praise of Jesus Christ! Thank you for your mercy, and thank you for loving our neighbors infinitely more than we do; we entrust them to you.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen
