1 Corinthians 14:6-19

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, “happy are they who fear the Lord and have great delight in his commandments,” for they join you in your works of compassion, seeing your mercy extended through and to unworthy humanity. Thank you for giving us the work of your ministry, that we might know with deeper awe the depth of the mercy of God. May your people honor you today in the remembrance of your supreme mercy extended to us in Jesus Christ and his offer of forgiveness of sins.

We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, great is thy mercy! Perfect is thy justice! And sweet is the gospel that convicts all humanity of unrighteous self-infatuation while holding out the supreme offer of amnesty to any and all who will submit to the holy reign of Christ! In you there is no conflict, no friction between your justice and your mercy, between your holiness and your compassion, for indeed you rightly said, “I AM that I AM,” and you call repentant sinners to partake in your mercy while in no way minimizing the graveness of sin! Glorious is the Christ who gave himself that we might receive mercy from the just God! Blessed is the God of Israel, who invites all who will come to receive forgiveness of sins and adoptions as sons! Thank you for your supreme mercy! May your church not fail to remember with tears the beautiful Savior and in humility fill each daily task with gratefulness and joy, to the glory of Christ the Lamb.
