Sunday Sermon - 06/02/2019 - 1 Corinthians 2:6-16

Opening Prayer:

O Holy God, though all manner of pressures and concerns and urgencies press down upon your church and tempt your people to offer you less praise, nevertheless you are the King of all creation, sovereign over all circumstances, and you bolster our courage and and bless us with rest, even amidst the many distractions that haunt us today. And so we thank you that your Kingship is immovable, unchangeable, infinite, and your fatherly kindness exceeds all our worries and desires. Please accept the praises of your people today.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ and for his glory. Amen

Closing Prayer:

O Holy God, how great and complete is the salvation you offer through Jesus Christ, for in the present we are blessed with continual sanctification, learning to live in humble obedience to you and experiencing the sweet contentment of adoption into your family; and we await the inconceivable future joys of praising you with unfettered hearts free of sin. So enormous is the salvation offered through Jesus Christ that though we will someday understand the depths of our present spiritual poverty, we will never be able to repay our debt, never match the goodness he shows us with some goodness of our own, never offer a sacrifice of praise that will equal his praiseworthiness, not even in the endless, timeless eternity of your sinless heaven. And so Jesus Christ will always be preeminent in holiness and mercy and kindness. Thank you for your compassion upon us in rescuing us from the twisted perversions of sin; and thank you for blessing us as your children, giving us infinitely more than we can offer in return.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ and for his glory. Amen
